Psalms 94:4-9
“Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth, Burst into jubilant song with music; Make music to the Lord with the harp, With the harp and the sound of singing, With trumpets and the blast of the ram’s horn- Shout for joy before the Lord, the King. Let the sea resound, and everything in it, The world, and all who live in it. Let the rivers clap their hands, Let the mountains sing together for joy; Let them sing before the Lord, for he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness And the peoples with equity.”
(NIV)
Worship is so important to us as a body of believers.
The Psalmist writes in Psalm 95:1-2: “Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord, let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.”
It is important for a Church to sing.
Paul told the Ephesian believers to “speak to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit.” These believers were to “sing and make music from (their) heart to the Lord, always giving thanks for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Eph.5:19-20).
As believer’s, we sing with the whole of creation.
Psalm 98:4-9 tells us how all creation praises God:
“Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth, Burst into jubilant song with music; Make music to the Lord with the harp, With the harp and the sound of singing, With trumpets and the blast of the ram’s horn- Shout for joy before the Lord, the King. Let the sea resound, and everything in it, The world, and all who live in it. Let the rivers clap their hands, Let the mountains sing together for joy; Let them sing before the Lord, for he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness And the peoples with equity.”
Here at Kingsridge we want to sing songs and hymns that glorify God and proclaim the Gospel. In doing so, we choose our songs carefully and thoughtfully with a recognition that we are singing primarily to God.
We believe that the songs we choose to sing will help you in your walk with the Lord. We will attempt to sing in a manner that is submissive to the Holy Spirit. We will sing together as a witness to God’s truth.
By doing this as we sing, we offer a testimony to all attending that we share a unique unity in Christ. We are admitting that we need one another and that we are a spiritual family together. Our example to do this comes from the practice of the early Church as described in Acts 2:46-47:
“Every day they continued to meet together in the Temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favour of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.”
So, come let us sing together in worship of Him who has cleansed us from our sin and has placed us in right standing with Almighty God, our great Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Will you join with us as we worship our Lord together?
